I read your blog post. I hear you about the Sotomayor nomination and the need to mobilize and support her not only because she is Latina (which is also an important reason to support because the Supreme Court could use more diversity anyway), but because she is qualified. The tone in the media surely is getting ugly. I couldn't believe a story I read where it was mentioned that her brother is a physician in Syracuse and doesn't accept Medicare.

The sentence read: "Her brother, Dr. Juan Sotomayor, is a physician in North Syracuse, N.Y., whose practice doesn't accept Medicaid or Medicare — programs for the poor and elderly — according to its Web site."

And, this was the AP.

I was like what does that have to do with her nomination, but then again the whole point of the story was to project how Sotomayor is really a wealthy woman and not that girl from the Bronx everybody is talking about because it is somehow convenient for her and the Obama administration.

The whole story spoke about her rags to riches story. Of course, she has money now. That's what she earned with her work. She's a judge and lives the lifestyle. Of course, she doesn't live in the Bronx project anymore.
