Are you going to this year's National Puerto Rican Day Parade?

Are you going?

If you are not in New York and there are parades in your hometown, are you going?

What are you memories of the parade? Do you love or hate it?

I know our very own Aurora Flores and Zon del Barrio will play as the house band of this year's parade.

I want to get a discussion going on the parade and what it represents to you (if anything).

I might go this year to photograph. I'm still thinking about it.

I recently covered the Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade. I posted photos at my site at http://flickr.com/photos/clarisel. Click on the Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade photo set.

I'm not sure yet whether to attend the Manhattan parade. You?
I am planning to attend the Mayor's PR Parade reception at Gracie Mansion pues one of my photos was selected to be the cover art for the invite being used for this event. The reception is a few days before the parade. I hope to take my camera and shoot some photos.

Also, I'm planning to attend the Viva Cultura celebration of Puerto Rican heritage in the Bronx on June 6. I will post the event info. Looking forward to this event in the Bx.
Bueno, I gave in. I plan to cover this year's National Puerto Rican Day Parade. I got my press pass, so look for my photos next week. I'll post at my flickr site.
I am giving in myself and have talked to the wife and we are leaning towards going as of now.... I haven't been to the parade in about 10 years (is that sad?)..I will be writing a post in relation to the parade on my blog soon.
The parade has gotten so commercial and all, but as you know, it is still one of the most visible public displays of boricua pride in the nation.

I hesitated going this year, but I will be there God permitting. If you see me, I will probably shoot your photo so smile.

By the way, I will post a few photos I shot yesterday at the National PR Parade's Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral at my flickr site.
